That summer I interned for a man named Steve Boyd, an icon in the Live event mass choreography field. Our Mass Movement team was 27 people large, with employees from around the globe who work together on these ceremony gigs year after year. This particular Opening ceremony happened to be directed by Award Winning film director, Danny Boyle. Alongside Danny, Steve, our team and the thousands of volunteers from all over the world, I was able to participate in the Opening and Closing ceremonies and step into a world of creativity. From industrial costumes, to dancing choreography in an old fashioned nurses outfit, to milling through the athletes during the Athlete's Parade, I had quite the summer. However, with all the excitement, the 4 billion people around the world watching this spectacle, I had an off and on lonely summer. I missed home.
